In 2001 the old Gorton Levenshulme boundary sign next to the corner of Matthews Lane was looking grimy and delapidated, with missing letters and the M of Levenshulme hanging at an angle. By 2005 the old sign is still there, still grimy, still delapidated. The M has fallen an extra couple of degrees closer to dropping off. The only obvious addition is a satellite dish.

EWM says: The state of the sign illustrates that despite the current regeneration attempts, we continue to ignore the history and heritage around us.
