12 hour open air music event
Saturday 13 June, Castlefield
An extravaganza of electronic music echoed around the Castlefield Urban Heritage Park from 12 midday till almost midnight on Saturday 13 June.
Artists included 808 State, Afrika Bambaata, Dust Junkys and many more
There were heavy showers in the morning, but as ever, Manchester triumphed over climatic adversity, and went on to enjoy a fantastic 12 hour festival .
The canal wharves, brick enclosures, bridges, viaducts and renovated buildings of this 200 year old former commercial district echoed all day and all night long with the hypnotic, pulsating and repetitive sound of contemporary dance music.
The clatter of passing trains and trams on the viaducts overhead gave an extra element you wouldn't find in a concert hall or out-of-town festival.
At the end of the evening, headline act 808 State got an ecstatic response from the huge crowd.
And shortly befor midnight, fireworks were launched into the now jet black night sky over Castlefield. Suspended from the top of a specially hired crane the D.Percussion logo ignited into a waterfall of sparks and flames - a fitting end to an event that was truly... electric!
