Default Ross Place School (Ardwick)

I have posted all my Ross Place School photos on the friends reunited web site, I've also found a few pictures of the school itself on the Manchester City Council web site. Are there any more out there?

Hi Peter. Couple of abiding memories for me of Ross Place. 1) My dad went there. And 2) As a kid living in Ardwick around, 1974, the school was semi derelict and my friends and I did some pretty good nightime exploring around there. (When we were not doing the same at the old Slack & Cox building)

Any chance I can see all the pics you have?

Thanks for the reply.
I'll put them on my web page (link to follow) after the weekend. I'm short on spare time before then.

Benjamin Brereton, Ross Place School hike in Glossop (ca 1936)

The information on the rear of the photo was added by my father Benjamin (far left on photo) at a later date ...so the location & date may be wrong.

The teacher & some of the children also appear on the class photo below. The photo is titled " Sid's class ".

Can anyone put names to the faces?

Smile rossplace school

My recollections of Ross Place are enjoyable, the shool opened in the winter evenings for we childen to go in and take part in different activites. We were
supervised by proper teachers,I know this because one of the teachers taught at the school I attended during the day.I along with several friends from different schools in the Longsight and Ardwick area often went there.
I am talking about the years 1955,1956 some where around that time. WE would walk up Grey Street and cut through a narrow covered ginnel to get to the school. wonder if anyone else remembers this.
