Default Jutland street

My late Grandfather had a hairy tale to tell about Jutland Street.
The day he was getting married he was being ferried to the wedding in a horse drawn cab. The cab driver was apparently quite drunk and tried to take a short-cut down Jutland Street (I think it was probably still called Junction street then) with a vehicle having no brakes. A disaster was averted only because the horse took a dislike to the steep hill and refused to go any further. My Grandfather always said that he was forced to take the reins himself in order to get to the wedding.

Default Jutland Street demise

That's a brilliant account about the horse refusing to go down Jutland St.

I've noticed passing that the wall has now almost completely gone.

I photographed the fashion model Briony in front of the graffiti that I knew would be part of a pile of rubble within a short time.

The site has been levelled off and they must be preparing to start digging the foundations.

Shame about those arches, but would they have looked right within the new context?

Building - 331 - Piccadilly Tower - Manchester

ohh - it's going to be a big one on the site - 30m taller than the Hilton.

Default Store Street Arches

I work in Rail House which overlooks the site of the arches and have been documenting their demise from the 8th floor with a colleague. I have uploaded a few on photobucket -

The archaeology team on site unearthed the remains of a wagon turntable some weeks ago. I will upload more pictures when I get the chance.

Default Great views of the demolition site

Thanks those pictures are great, they provide a different angle to the view from the street.

Just yesterday I saw the site has now been levelled off.

What is going to happen to Jutland Street? Here's my photo again from 1997.
