Luxury hotel proposal for Buile Hill Park Salford

I've just heard via the Salford Star mailing list that there is a proposal to build an upmarket hotel in the middle of Buile Hill Park Salford, the park where the former Lancashire Mining Museum is located.

This doesn't sound like a good idea to me. There is a petition. I can't think of any park in the Manchester area where a hotel has been built in it.

Would a hotel in a public park be a good idea?

It would be interesting to see more detail, particularly regarding the size of the hotel vis a vis the park, access and parking.

Why in the middle of a park?
As an Old LaSallian, we used to run through Buile Hill Park.
First the hotel
Then Apartment buildings
It must be stopped!
