Default Wartburg - Bubble car

I remember seeing many Wartburgs on British roads and distinctly remember seeing the advert in the Sunday Times paper and / or magazine.

The Wartburg was extensively used in East Germany, and features in the film 'The Lives of Others / Das Leben der Anderen'. I had no idea that the car was so difficult to drive. I can't imagine teaching people how to drive in it. We are spoilt by today's cars. My BSM vehicle is an 08 Vauxhall Corsa - a distant descendent of the Vauxhall Victor mentioned above.

Another post war vehicle, definitely odd, was the so-called 'Bubble Car', or the various types of them. I saw one on the A6 in Stockport a couple of weeks ago. I remember they were very common and actually quite fashionable. I was fascinated with them as a child, and had a treasured plastic toy bubble car.

I'd love to drive one today. Does anyone rent them out?

Default Mobile Shops

Do your remember the old mobile shops?

In Prestwich we had,

Jameson's the iron mongers.. a glass sided walk in shop c/w tin baths and scrubbing brushes, they also sold the stuff used to polish the front door step which was almost compulsary in those days
particually in terriced house areas

Corona man they were orange i think selling bottles of pop.

A grocers truck

Coalman , ice cream and milk the only ones still around i think now.

Some supermarkets are now doinng home deliverie sas if its a new service, but we know differant dont we.#

These mobile shops would make great heritage items if any still exist
do you know of any or any photos?
