hello!

i'm training to be an architect to obvioulsy i have a huge interest in architecture and urban issues.

ive been studiying in liverpool for the last 3 years and have just retuned to my hometown of manchester to do my placement.

ive been pasionanate about architecture from an early age and i think that we are going in thew right directon in manchester. there are still some shocking buildings, but they dont include the beetham tower or the civil justice centre!

Well, I am not, obviously an architect. But I and many others that I know, consider that the tower height is its only meritorious feature, and even that has a bit of sore thumb about it. The "step" part way up, when viewed side on, just seems like a mistake. My son, who once blagged his way in there, says it is there to accommodate the glass floor. Blackpool Tower has a smaller glass floor version, so nothing really new there.
The other thing I really detest is the random checkerboard effect of its outer panels. It just makes the building seem very old and dilapidated before its time. I would have preferred a more uniform monolithic feel to the skinning.
Likes and dislikes are very subjective of course. Why do you think it has class?
