Clams? in Debdale Park??

Walking round the back of Debdale park Reservoir I noticed birds eating some form of shellfish, walking down to the waters edge there are a great quantity of opened shellfish shell, mostly about 3 to 4 inches by 3 inches in width, of an oval shape - anyone know what they are???

Probably Crayfish.

Last time I went to Debdale park it seemed to have turned into a youth club for ASBO 'award-ees'.

Shouting, fighting, drinking smoking weed. And this was at 13.00 on a Tuesday afternoon!

Frightening place.

Yes, they are swan mussels. A common species in British waters. Filter feeders. The water level on Debdale has been dropped, and exposed much of the reservoir bed, and hence the mussels.
