New engine needed

My Caravelle TDi was washed into the sea in a flood! It did not get a lot of water in it.. but when I drove it to my local VW place it seized and I have now been told it needs a new engine.. It is V reg - is it worth it? - is there a UK specialist in this - or a good source for engines.. Does anyone know how long this takes or how much it costs..??

Only 3rd party insurance! (Not my doing!) Will it be worth more with a new engine?? (ie can I recoup some costs later..?) Is the old engine saleable??! (150k)

Any thoughts or advice anyone - I am in Cornwall.. It is a nice van..

Oh is this a good point to change the engine to petrol and get lpg fitted or is that just NOT ON!
