Can you have a roofbox on a VW camper rising roof?

Hello

We have a VW California and are thinking of getting a roof box for 'stuff' to go into, but don't know if we can then still use the rising roof. Is it too heavy? If it is windy is it too dodgy to have the roof up? Do you have to take it off every time you put the roof up?

If anyone knows the answers to these questions, please let me know! Any horror stories, or experience to put my mind at rest?
