The preserved former terminal building and control tower at Speke Airport. The 1930s art deco style building was converted into a hotel after the present terminal was built nearby. The former apron is now a car park.
This photo appears in the book LIverpool Then and Now, for which I produced most of the 'now' photos.
This building will appeal to both aviation enthusiasts and Beatles fans. There are photos of the Beatles arriving here in the early to mid sixties, with huge numbers of people on the viewing terraces to welcome them.
