Gates to Strawberry Field inspiration for the song by John Lennon

The gates to Strawberry Field on Beaconsfield Road, south LIverpool are a big tourist attraction. They are actually replicas.

As a child, John Lennon came to the Salvation Army hostel. These visits inspired the song 'Strawberry Fields'. The old house has been demolished. It can be seen in the photo in Liverpool Then and Now, for which this photo was taken. It's a wonderful place to visit.
