Stockport Cheadle Heath Simon Building demolition

The Simon Engineering company once occupied this 1930's-style office complex with landmark tower known as the Simon Tower, part of the industrial area along Bird Hall Lane, Cheadle Heath, Stockport. The tower used to house a working flour mill for the purposes of research and demonstration. Henry Simon manufactured flour milling equipment, among other things. (Thanks to AJW for this information)

What a shame. Another distinctive commercial building in the style of the mid-20th century is being destroyed. Metro Vicks works in Trafford Park and many others have met a similar fate. As a child I lived five minutes from here on Edgeley Road. My sister once worked in this building.
