Taal Volcano is in the middle of an island in the middle of a large lake south of Manila, in the south centre of the main island of Luzon. A lake fills the mouth of the volcano, now dormant apart from a couple of smoke plumes. This is the rocky shore of the lake which we visited on a locally organised trip by boat, on horseback and on foot. On the left is the tree- covered "island in a lake in a volcano on an island in a lake on an island'.
I have enhanced the picture so as to give an unreal view of what it was like. I have removed the discarded cans, bottles and other rubbish from the ground, saturated the colours and shifted the overall hue towards blue. I've added blue to the sky. I have tried to emulate the idealised views of rocks, lakes and mountains by American artist Maxfield Parrish.
