Peter Saville is one of the
UK's most celebrated designers. He rose to fame with his designs for Joy Division
and New Order album covers, and co-founded Factory Records with Tony Wilson. In 2004 he
was commissioned by Manchester City Council to come up ideas for a new brand and
promotional campaign for Manchester. This photo was taken September 2000 at In The
City. See more items on Peter

On 14 October 2004 the two word concept developed by Peter was announced in an article in the MEN, with a photo of him. The phrase he came up with was: "original-modern". AOR says: Coming up with a two-word catchline to sum up a city is not easy, but used in conjunction with the right marketing campaign, it could be very successful.
