American Airlines DC3 line drawing and watercolour

American Airlines Dakota or DC3. With its sleek lines and pressurised cabin, the DC3 was the first modern airliner, It entered service around 1936 and served as a military plane in the war. Dakotas were the mainstay of many airlines in the early post war years and a few are still in service.

My line and watercolour illustration of the DC3 Dakota reflects my fascination for old airliners. Ot was copied from a photo of a DC3 flying over Manhattan. Compare this with my photo of the American Airlines 767 at Manchester Airport taken September 2003
