The black and white half-timbered Packet House overlooks the canal at Worsley. The orange colour of the canal is is not pollution but iron salts in the ground nearby. The water is be filtered, so that it will lose its unique 'tomato soup' colour.
To 'sanitise' the canal at Worsley would be like 'cleaning' China's Yellow River (??), whose colour is caused by silt. See more at www.nationmaster.com. Ironically the Salford City Council website boasts about the orange colour which is being removed. The canal should have been left as it was.
