Manchester Salford images from the aidan.co.uk photo portfolio

Picture: Manchester 'Adrift' statue to be moved to St Peters Square » Filename: ManPiccGdnsAdriftBw96X15-LG.jpg

The statue 'Adrift' by John Cassidy, and completed in 1907 stood in Piccadilly Gardens until it was removed as part of the 'environmental improvements' to the area.

For more information about the Irish sculptor John Cassidy, visit www.johncassidy.org.uk.

It was announced in an article by Brian Lashley the Manchester Evening News Friday 28 January 2005 that the statue is to be re-erected in St Peter's Square, subject to planning approval. Three years later in early 2008, there is no sign of the statue. I find it very disappointing that such an important piece of work is languishing somewhere out of sight when it should be on public display.
