More than 40 years after standardised signs on British roads were introduced, many older style road signs survive, including this one at Aldwych in London. With the sky blue background, upper case letters and arrows sticking out of the corners, the design is quaintly reminiscent of the 1950's. Above the sign is the coat of arms of the City of Westminster, the name written in old-fashioned script.
