This is a rough draft of a image which transforms Sir Norman Foster's Swiss Re Building, more commonly known as 'the gherkin' into a space rocket. The image was made by copying the top half of the building, flipping it vertically and adding it to the bottom, removing nearby buildings, with the final addition of fins and a fire plume. I was contacted by a designer who wanted to use a photo of the Swiss Re building for a poster in which it would be transformed into a rocket. I did this rough draft and sent it to him, but didn't hear back from him. I often find that modern buildings are most interesting when they remind us of other things, About the photos This image is from the portfolio of Aidan O'Rourke photographer writer website publisher.
