Street sign at the top of Baker Street London NW1. Baker Street is famous for its associations with Sherlock Holmes, who lived at 221b Baker Street. It's also celebrated in the song of the same name by Gerry Rafferty, released in 1978. It's impossible to walk or drive down Baker Street London without being reminded of the rousing sax intro of the song 'Baker St' by Gerry Rafferty. Conal, my Irish colleague in Saudi Arabia 91-92 told me his brother was the producer of 'Baker Street', named as Hugh Murphy.
