Japanese language Kanji series: Taka

This is the kanji or Chinese character for the word 'high', in Japanese TAKA. This character can be seen in many place names, including Takayama, 'high mountain' Takajima,'high island' and others. As we can see, the character resembles the stepped outline of an oriental style pagoda. This one is on the island of Miyajima in western Japan. The character is taken from the destination display of a subway train bound for Taka-o photographed at Tokyo's Ueno station.

I don't know why but I find this character very appealing to the eye.
