Northcliffe House on Deansgate was built around 1931 and housed the offices and printing presses of the Daily Mail. They moved out in the 1980s and the building was destroyed in 2002 to make way for the Royal Bank of Scotland building.

I loved Northcliffe House with its 1930s style art deco tower, but the building would have been very difficult to adapt for a new use, though not impossible. This or another of my photos of Northclifee House has been selected for use in an edition of the tv programme 'Inside Out' on demolished buildings in the Manchester area.
