Widnes Canal at

Spike Island

Widnes is located to the south east of Liverpool and has been a centre for chemicals production. This canal runs by Spike Island, one of the places where the UK chemicals industry began. It's now used by leisure boats and lots of waterfowl.

Considered by some to be an unattractive place, Widnes offers many great waterside walks with views over the River Mersey.
