Manchester Airport Ringway Rd houses and plane

Until 2004 people lived in these houses situated directly under the approach path of Manchester Airport only a few hundred feet from the runway. For safety reasons they have been vacated and will probably be demolished.

Overhead Airbus A300-200 G-TCKE operated by Thomas Cook is just a few seconds away from touching down safely on Runway One.

The only fatal accidents to have taken place during final approach to Manchester Airport were the Shadow Moss Rd disaster of 1957 and the Stockport Air Crash of 1967.
