The Lord Mayor's Reception is an annual event held at the Town Hall Manchester. It is attended by many hundreds of local people who have made some contribution to the life of the city. They are chosen and invited by local councillors. The Lord Mayor of the City of Manchester for 2005-2006 is Councillor Afzal Khan.

This year's event had an exotic flavour. The town hall was dressed up as for an Asian wedding, with music, dancing and a seemingly unlimited supply of delicious eastern and British cuisine. It was fantastic.
