The upper section of New York's Chrysler Building, seen from 42nd St and 2nd Avenue. The metallic art deco building was completed in 1930 and was the tallest tower in the world until the construction of the Empire State Building in 1931. The Chrysler Building may not be the tallest building in the world, but it's one of the most awe-inspiring. My father Bartholomew (Bertie) O'Rourke was in New York around the time it was completed and used to talk about it.
