Dusk view of Barton Road Bridge and behind it, Barton Swing Bridge, which carries the Brigewater Canal over the Manchester Ship Canal. In the distance are the lights of the Arklow Rose, which is moored by the scrap metal yard further up the canal near Eccles. The Manchester Ship Canal forms the boundary between the City of Salford (left) and the Borough of Trafford (right). The 'Big Ditch' is a very photogenic subject but it's sad that it is used by so few ships nowadays. At least the Arklow fleet continue to use the canal, bringing cereal in to Cerestar Trafford Park, and taking out scrap metal for recycling.
