On Monday 27th of October 2003 the flight of steps leading up to the Metropolitan Cathedral was finally opened, some 70 years after the Cathedral was begun. Renovation and rebuilding work on the cathedral was also completed earlier this year.

This flight of stone steps leading up to the western entrance of the cathedral are the culmination of a dream going back to the 1930 's.
