Oldham Street was Manchester's main shopping street until the construction of the Arndale Centre in the 1970s, when it went into rapid decline. Neglected for many years, it has preserved the look of the old Manchester and now looks far more contemporary with 'street cred' than the more modernised parts of Manchester.
