Dunes of fine, pale brown sand display endless and changing patterns. Here, the smooth surface in the foreground is gently rippled. The tops of the dunes are gently curved with lighter and darker shading.

This location is the eastern part of the emirate of Sharjah, south off the highway 10km / 6 miles west of Dhaid.
