Al-Ain camels in desert landscape

View of camels walking across red dunes to the north of Al-Ain, United Arab Emirates. In the background are electricity pylons. We are about 90 miles / 140km south west of Dubai.

Camels are especially prized in the United Arab Emirates. Care is needed when driving at night, because if you injure or kill a camel, you may end up in jail and have to pay damages to the owner. Stray camels are much rarer nowadays as more and more desert areas are fenced in.
