Digitally altered blue tourist sign on Deansgate by the intersection to Blackfriars Street. Instead of the actual wording - 'Manchester Arndale Piccadilly Gardens' - I have substituted 'Stockport Buxton Luton London A6'. In the background, out of focus, is the tower of Manchester Cathedral.

I am making the point that Market Street forms part of the A6, one of England's 'big six' ancient roads, which runs from Carlisle to Luton and the A5 for the final stretch to London. It's a reminder of a time when people e.g. Roman soldiers - used to walk to London
