Lyndsey Reade occupies a unique place in the story of Manchester music. She was involved with Joy Division, New Order and the Hacienda, and was portrayed in the film 24 Hour Party People. Her book about the life of the late Ian Curtis is set to appear in 2006.
It was fascinating to meet someone who I think is an enigmatic figure on the Manchester music scene, though she disagreed about this. Her book 'Torn Apart', co-authored with Mick Middles, offers a new perspective on the story already told by Ian Curtis' widow Deborah in her book Touching from a Distance.
