The Berlin Generator Hotel is situated about 3km (2 miles) from the centre of east Berlin next to the S-Bahn station Landsberger Allee. Housed in a converted office block it offers clean, basic and very affordable accommodation to travellers. Facilities include internet access, self-service laundry, cafeteria and a bar housed in a unique circular outhouse and beergarden which like the lobby has been kitted out in brash, metallic, industrial style with blue neon lights.

The Generator Hotel offers everything you need for an overnight stay in the German capital. My room was basic but comfortable with two single beds, clean bedding and towels, and an immaculate en-suite shower and toilet compartment, better than in many 2 and 3 star hotels. Use your own padlock on the metal locker to provide secure storage.

The clean and simple room with its fantastic views, the funky bar and friendly staff, the cafeteria and copious free breakfast, the easy access to the Berlin transport system, and many more reasons make this an excellent place for anyone to stay, not just backpackers. I recommend the Generator Hostel 100%!
