First in a series of two books by True North Publications with photographs and other material relating to Manchester in the mid-20th century. The cover photographs shows a busy Market Street in the 1950's. Offering 'page after page of pure nostalgia' this book will appeal to the generation old enough to remember the streets, squares and buildings of Manchester as they once were. But for me it's less nostalgia and more an opportunity to learn what Manchester was like before redevelopment started, and to imagine how the city might have looked today if things had gone differently.
