The Beetham Hilton Tower stands on the site of part of the railway viaduct that served the Great Northern Goods Warehouse.
For many years the three arches under the viaduct served as the showroom of Bauer Millett, the prestige car suppliers. In 2004 the arches were demolished and the Beetham Hilton Tower was built on the site. It's symbolic that the tower, symbol of the new Manchester, was built on the site of a symbol of the old Manchester.
