Looking from the Runcorn Widnes Bridge over the town of Widnes (Lancashire / Borough of Halton) with the cooling towers, power hall and chimney of Fiddlers Ferry power station in the distance. On the right is the River Mersey.
The old transporter bridge used to span the Mersey from the lower left of the picture to the Runcorn side. It was taken down following the opening of the Runcorn Widnes Bridge in 1961.
