Manchester Shambles and Triangle / Corn Exchange

The Shambles is the Old Wellington Inn (left) and Sinclair's Oyster Bar (right). As part of the redevelopment of the area after the 1996 bomb attack, The Shambles was taken down and re-erected next to the Corn Exchange (Triangle shopping centre)

The Shambles - comprising the Old Wellington Inn and Sinclair's Oyster Bar - is one of Manchester's oldest buildings, but it has moved twice in the post war years, most recently around 1999 when this part of Manchester was completely redeveloped. Its new location is next to the Corn Exchange, renamed The Triangle, and Manchester Cathedral. Previously the buildings were end to end. In the new arrangement, they are placed at right angles to each other Though the location and arrangement are no original, the 'new' Shambles seems to work well and is a popular spot with both locals and visitors.
