Two remarkable white stone facades in the centre of Liverpool: The Adelphi Hotel with its classical style columns, and on the right, partly in shadow, the facade of Lewis's department store.
Lewis's was about to close but at the last minute was saved. The building has been awarded listed status. We are looking from Ranelagh Street. Many buildings in Liverpool look as if they could be in London. Liverpool was once the second most important port in the Empire, and a very wealthy city.
