Volkswagen 1957 VW Samba at VWNW 2006 Tatton Park. The colour is chestnut brown on the top and sealing wax red on the bottom. The van is not in pristine condition, but the bodywork and interior are mostly original. It is a very rare bus, one of only around 10 in the UK of this year and in roadworthy condition. Please note, this vehicle is not for sale!

On the VW enthusiasts scene, the original Samba is regarded as the archetypal top vehicle to own. This one is owned by Lee Griffiths, judge of the concours bus class at the annual VWNW (Volkswagen North West) show, Tatton Park Cheshire.. He has fitted it with a very powerful custom built 1776cc twin carb engine, and front disc brakes. The van is not really comfortable at speeds of over 70 or absolute maximum 80 mph.
