Manila Luneta Park Rizal monument and Filipino flags

The monument to national hero Jose Rizal is located in Luneta Park in the centre of Manila, Philippines. Filipino flags fly on flagpoles on either side of the approach, which is closed to the public. Two soldiers stand guard in front of the monument.

The Rizal monument features on banknotes of the Philippines. There are echoes of the statue of Daniel O'Connell on O'Connell Street Dublin
