The view looking west along the A628 which runs across the Pennines east of Manchester. The road is quite narrow, has lots of bends, and is frequently subject to fog and mist due to its location high in the Pennines.

The A628 runs along the Woodhead pass, part of the historic county of Cheshire in its original boundaries. In 1974, the Cheshire boundary sign was removed and replaced with one saying 'Derbyshire'.
