Looking across the roof of the Co-op building in Stockport, with the steeple of Christ Church visible in the distance. The traditional roof elements of the Co-op building juxtaposed with the steeple and no modern elements combine to make what I call a 'chronogenic' image, a picture that conjures up a feeling of other times. Christ Church was partially demolished, but the steeple was left as it is a major landmark in Stockport. We are looking from St Peter's Square in the Cheshire side of Stockport, south of the Mersey. Christ Church is north of the Mersey in Lancashire. About the photos This image is from the portfolio of Aidan O'Rourke photographer writer website publisher.
