Stockport M60 (former M63) motorway and Blue Pyramid dusk rain

View looking south across the M60 motorway towards the Blue Pyramid, at dusk in heavy rain. Echoing the pyramid in the distance is the spire of St Thomas's church Edgeley. The Pyramid is Stockport's most prominent modern landmark and is used by the Co-operative Bank.

This photograph was taken for and used on the cover of the book 'Around the M60 Manchester's orbital motorway' which I co-authored. The river Mersey flows just behind the pyramid. We are looking across the ancient boundary from Lancashire into Cheshire. The viewpoint is directly on the alignment of the disused railway line from Tiviot Dale, now the car park for Petsmart and Staples stores.
