This billboard advert for DHL featuring an imaginary combination of Tower Bridge London and Brooklyn Bridge New York is being shown around the UK during mid-2007. The ad makes use of a skilful piece of digital montage, combining the two bridges into one, and expressing the idea of the UK and the US being brought close together, thanks to DHL's service.
This concept looks as if it could have been taken from my 'Transatlantic Cities' idea, in which I pursue the echoes and parallels between the UK and the US through similarities and links. One of the ideas I had was to take the Mersey underground train from Liverpool Central and emerge at Grand Central Station on Manhattan. The ad agency have used this idea as a potent advertising concept.
