View taken by Anselm Keogh at Liverpool's Pier Head with the cruise liner Empress of Canada.
See all photos of ships The time of the photo is late afternoon due to light from the west casting long shadows. There are some clues as to the date. Parked on the landing stage is a Volkswagen Beetle. Visible on the high resolution scan are its post 1967 style headlamps. In the distance, centre right, we can just see New Brighton Pier, which was demolished after the ferry service ended in 1971. To the left of the ship can be seen Wallasey Town Hall which looks much the same today.
