The Standard Vanguard was manufactured between 1955 and 1963 and was a common sight on British roads. A few survive as restored classic cars. This one was parked in front of Picture and Antique Gallery, 280 Higher Hillgate Stockport in 1987. Behind it is an old Mini.
The Standard Vanguard is a little known British classic car that is regarded even by its own enthusiasts as 'undervalued and largely unloved'. Nevertheless this one caught my eye back in 1987. At the time I was trying to recreate the look of nostalgic black and white photos.
