Thanks to this building owned by Etisalat (Arabic for 'telecommunications', and the name of the state-owned UAE telecom company), Ras Al Khaimah is fully integrated into the UAE's telecom system, one of the most sophisticated in the world. As in the film '2001 A Space Odyssey' - a futuristic, almost extra-terrestrial structure has appeared in a primieval landscape. This scene is symbolic of the UAE's amazing transformation during the latter 20th century.

Dank dem Etisalat-Gebäude wird Ras Al Khaimah in das Telekommunikationssystem der Emirate voll integriert, eines der modernsten der Welt. Etisalat, arabisch für 'Telekommunikationen', ist der Name der staatlichen Telekom der VAE.

Wie im Film '2001' ist eine futuristische, fast ausserirdische Struktur in einer Urlandschaft erschienen. Diese Szene ist symbolhaft der sprunghaften Entwicklung der VAE im späten 20. Jahrhundert. (Übersetzung von Isabella Turner)
