The Angel of the North is a giant winged statue
made of steel with a rusted surface. It was designed by sculptor Antony Gormley and
stands above the A1 near Newcastle. It is built on a small mound surrounded by a park
with views over County Durham. A man stands below the structure - he is about the same
height as the Angel's foot.

The Angel of the North has to be seen to be believed. In stereo the giant wing juts out of the picture and the mound stands out against the background sky. The man at the foot of the statue gives us a sense of the scale of the statue.
Nikon Coolpix 990 digital camera This is a hyperstereo pair. Two images are taken one after the other from around 1 foot apart. The images are then placed side by side to make a parallel stereo pair. This image can be printed at 6x4 inches and viewed on a Loreo stereo viewer, or with the naked eye.
